Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I expect from an evaluation?

    • Some evaluations are more comprehensive than others. Generally, evaluations include an initial consultation, review of relevant records, interviews, observations, testing, and, as needed, rating scales.

    • Included with every evaluation is a written report with recommendations and a feedback session.

  • What can I expect from counseling?

    • I will meet with you for an initial intake session to gather detailed information about your concerns. After this initial session, goals for treatment are developed together. At this time, we will agree upon the session frequency and estimated duration of treatment. Data are collected before, during, and after treatment to monitor your progress and ensure that you are benefiting from counseling. Based on the data that are collected, adjustments are made to treatment as needed. Counseling sessions are terminated once you have reached your treatment goals.

  • Do you take insurance?

    • I am currently in-network with Aetna. If you would like to use your benefits through Aetna, please book an appointment here: https://headway.co/providers/cheryl-gelley.

    • Currently, I am not an in-network provider on any other insurance plans. However, I may be an out-of-network provider and can provide you with documentation to submit to your insurance provider to request reimbursement. My services may also be considered on your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA).

    • Advantages of self-pay:

      • Services are decided upon by us, as opposed to the insurance companies. Oftentimes, insurance companies place restrictions on the frequency of sessions and length of treatment. However, these pre-determinations are often not in your best interests. I work with you to ensure that services are matched to your needs and terminated at a time that is agreed upon together.

      • Your mental health treatment is not shared with your insurance provider, thus becoming a part of your medical record. As part of your medical record, a mental health diagnosis and history of mental health treatment may impact eligibility for future medical and/or life insurance coverage.

  • What are your rates?

    • The rates vary depending on the referral concern and the services that are provided. Please contact me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation and get a free quote.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    • Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. I understand that life happens but kindly request that cancellations be made at least 48 hours in advance.
